Further welcomes Outreach Executive Alice Mortimer
Alice Mortimer is the latest recruit to join Further’s growing Organic Search team. Discover what makes her really tick in our new-starter interview.
Place of origin: Bury St. Edmunds
Role at Further: Outreach Executive
Area of specialism: Building relationships through creative copy – whether that’s spreading the love of a new band I have discovered or encouraging consumers to engage with a brand. Creating and sharing quality, brand-related content that people actually want to read is key, no matter your industry.
Potted career history: I graduated from the University of East Anglia (UEA) this year with a degree in Society, Culture and Media, which covered a range of topics from politics to media production. During my time at UEA, I spent a year as the student newspaper’s Features Editor and a further year as Music Editor. From this, I started work as a freelance music journalist for a range of national (online) and local industry publications.
I also have previous experience working at a digital marketing and PR agency that specialises in fast-moving consumer goods, food and homeware, where I was involved in content marketing, PR and social media. I have also enjoyed an internship as a music PR. My foundation skills in journalism, digital marketing and PR make the perfect blend for a role within Further’s outreach team.
Proudest moment: Graduating with First Class honours and getting my first music interview published!
Interests: Music, music, music… comedy, design, the pub!
Next on the bucket list… I’d love to explore Scandinavia, particularly Norway! I’d also like to get my first piece of music journalism published in a national print magazine.
Best piece of life advice: “If nothing goes right, go left”. It’s a reminder that if you’re not happy, something needs changing (and only you can do this!)
