Further scrums down with Harrod UK to celebrate the Rugby World Cup

With this year’s Rugby World Cup (RWC) fast approaching, we have teamed up with Harrod Sport to showcase the history of the World Cup since it began in 1987.

With the infamous tournament only days away, we wanted to help Harrod celebrate being the manufacturer and provider of all goal posts to the participating RWC stadiums in England and Wales for a second time.

We created this fascinating interactive infographic, not only to provide rugby fans with a useful resource but also to fuel some friendly debate and speculation about this year’s potential winners and losers.

It has also provided a fantastic opportunity for our outreach team to engage with rugby writers and bloggers on a global scale, who have found the infographic very useful in their research when writing articles and for sharing with their audience.

The infographic offers rugby fans access to some really interesting statistics which include:

  • the number of matches each country has played
  • their top scorer
  • the number of tries, points, conversions and penalties

When we look at England we see the team has scored the highest number of penalties (121) in comparison to other participating countries. In addition, they have come in third for the highest number of matches played (40) and the number of tries (126).

Abbey Barnard, Sports Marketing Co-ordinator for Harrod Sport concludes:

“We are really pleased with the finished infographic. It’s not surprising to see Jonny Wilkinson is England’s top scorer after achieving 277 points from his 19 appearances since the Rugby World Cup began.”

“Will history repeat itself this year with England drop kicking their way to victory in the Grand Final, just like in 2003? I do hope so, especially given we have manufactured the posts!”

We certainly second that. Come on England!
