On the Buzzer, City!

What do Scotland, The Insider, and Boddingtons have in common? They were all answers at the Community Sport Foundation’s “On The Buzzer, City” quiz held at Carrow Road last night. Yes the questions where wild, fun and varied, the answers even more so.

Hosted by BBC Norfolk’s Rob Butler and ex-Canary Adrian Forbes, Further brought a whopping three teams of six down to the the Norwich City ground. The Brandy Badgers, the Mighty Monkeys, and the Strategic Partnership all walked in with high hopes and full stomachs thanks to the pizza and potato wedges we ate beforehand in preparation for the games.

Of course there were really two competitions going on, the actual quiz, and the Further quiz. It would have been lovely to win the Norwich City matchday box experience for all of our team, or the two season cinema tickets, even the £15 Sainsbury’s vouchers, but to win the the Further quiz, well that would mean office bragging rights for a full year until the next round in 2015.

For two hours 30 teams battled with questions from categories including music, film, sport, and history! Norwich City players Garry Hooper and Gary O’Neil chipped in too posting questions by video link. The hardest of the night? How many Northern Irish players have appeared for Norwich City since 2000? The highlight, a mystery guest appearance from none other than former Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles.

As the votes were counted a heartfelt film was shown illustrating the wonderful work the Community Sport Foundation do. The official charity party of Norwich City Football Club, it helps over 20,000 people every year to achieve their goals through sport. They support some of the most disadvantaged, disabled and talented people across Norfolk. For example James Frost,  who has a rare condition known as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, was given his dream tour of Carrow Road, meeting the players, and even lead them out against Charlton Athletic.

Then the results came… The Mighty Monkeys walked away victorious in 10th position. Two points behind came the Brandy Badgers in 12th, and the Strategic Partnership? Brought up the rear in 23rd. It’s the taking part that counts ;)

All in all it was a fantastic night raising money for the Community Sports Foundation. A huge thank you to them for having us and we look forward to seeing you next year!
