#1LineEACH: Our Crowd-Sourced Christmas Story

During the festive season, we all want our money to go that little bit further. That’s why, instead of company Christmas cards, we like to put our cash towards a worthy cause and to entice others to do the same. It’s the season of goodwill, after all.

This year, we’re giving everyone the chance to get involved. We’re making the most of the social tools at the heart of our business and of the creativity at the core of our team.

1 line each

Introducing #1LineEACH, a crowd-sourced Christmas story in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). We’re inviting Twitter users to write a festive story, line by line and tweet by tweet. Our favourite contributions will then be featured on our Storify page, where the official tale will unfold.

What’s more, we’ll donate 50p to EACH for the first 1,500 #1LineEACH tweets we receive!

Anthony Horowitz, best-selling children’s author and the ambassador of our chosen charity, will be kicking off the campaign by tweeting the first line of the story on December 3rd. It’s then down to Twitter users to decide how the tale develops, giving everyone the unique opportunity to collaborate with an internationally acclaimed writer.



We’ve hand-selected EACH based on the crucial work they do for the region’s most vulnerable children. Their hospices support and care for terminally ill children and their families, providing essential comfort when they need it most. The funds we raise will go towards vital end-of-life care, including music therapy, home care kits and staffing costs.

“Campaigns like these are essential for the smooth running of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices,” says EACH Partnerships Manager Mark Loades. “We hope that Further’s innovative approach to fundraising will not only encourage lots of people to get involved but will construct a Christmas story that’s like no other!”

How to get involved

If you want to take part in this fantastic campaign, all you need to do is check out the story so far and then tweet the next line, not forgetting the all-important #1LineEACH hashtag. Alternatively, for those feeling especially charitable, you can make a personal or company donation on our JustGiving page.

Four tweets will be selected daily (9am, 1pm, 5pm and 9pm) so please make sure you’ve read the latest edition of the story on Storify before you enter the next line. The closing tweet will be selected on the evening of the 17th of December.
